Ravenscroft Care home for people with learning difficulties in Gateshead
One bedroom has full en-suite facilities together with a ceiling track hoist device. The bathroom is fitted with an adapted bath, which is suitable for people with some degree of physical disability. Ravenscroft is unable to offer nursing care.
Service users have the opportunity if they so wish to entertain visitors/guests in their own privacy, either in the lounge or their own bedroom.
So where is Ravenscoft?
Ravenscroft is situated on the eastern side of Old Durham Road, adjacent to West View. It is less than half a kilometre away from local amenities at Wrekenton and approximately five kilometres away from Gateshead Town Centre. It is located on the main bus route, which links up with the Metro services in Gateshead.
Ravenscroft can provide residential learning difficulties care in Gateshead for five people. All bedrooms are single rooms all of which meet the size requirements of the care standards act. The majority have French windows looking onto the garden area to enable easy access for service users. The garden is enclosed by a wooden fence to ensure privacy and safety for the service users
We will be adding a further bedroom in 2012 and this extension will also include shower facilities.
The staff to service user ratio is very high which meets the needs of the individual.
Information about the Staff
The Registered Manager has completed Registered Managers Award 2005 & the equivalent level in care. The manager has worked for Ashdown Care, providing individuals with Learning difficulties care in Gateshead, since 1995. The Proprietor is a First level nurse with a Certificate in Education and a Diploma in Management qualification.
The home employs 16 staff age ranging from 18 years to 53 years from a variety of backgrounds. We are also an approved Learning Environment for young apprentices. Several employees have transferred from homes within the Company to work with this particular group of service users.
There are nine members of staff who have their National Vocational Qualification and the remainder working towards the qualification.
The Home has achieved the prestigious Investors in people award.
